Distel elected president of PIACT

HARTFORD, Conn.—Kenneth A. Distel of Avon, Conn., was elected president of the Professional Insurance Agents of Connecticut Inc., at the association’s Annual Convention, March 9-10, at the Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Conn.

Distel is Area Vice President of RPS Distel., in Farmington, Conn.

An active member of PIACT, Distel served as president-elect of the association in 2016-17; treasurer in 2015-16 and secretary in 2014-15. Currently, Distel is vice president of the Administrative/Nominations Committee. He also is a member of the Executive/Budget & Finance and Legislative/Business Issues Committees.

An affiliate of PIACT, Distel served as president of the Connecticut Young Insurance Professionals from 2004-06. CTYIP promotes the professional and personal growth of those new to the insurance field by providing education and networking opportunities. In 2003, Distel was recognized as the CTYIP Insurance Professional of the Year. This award honors an individual who has exemplified a commitment to professionalism, networking and service and whose efforts have enhanced CTYIP. In 2002, Distel received the CTYIP Director of the Year award. This award is presented by CTYIP to honor the hard work and dedication of a member of the association’s board of directors who has contributed a great deal of time and talent to help support CTYIP and its programs.
