Urge Cuomo to sign PIA-supported bill to give employers notice of increased workers' compensation premiums

A PIANY-supported bill has been delivered to Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo (A.1620/S.1005), which would give employers 30 days’ notice if their workers’ compensation insurer plans to raise their premiums more than 10 percent on renewal.

If signed, the bill would give policyholders additional time to shop for a new policy after receiving notice of a higher rate for renewal. New York Insurance Law provides policyholders with a notice of premium increases for all other lines of commercial insurance, but not workers’ compensation. This bill would give workers’ compensation policyholders some of the same protections. PIANY fought hard during the 2017 legislative session to get the bill passed in the Senate and Assembly.

The governor’s signature is the final step to make this law and we need your help. Urge the governor to sign the bill. For the contact form, click here.
