PIA produces N.Y. cybersecurity regulation compliance checklist
The New York State Department of Financial Services' cybersecurity regulation is slated to take effect Jan. 1, 2017.
To ensure agents and brokers have the resources and information they need to comply, your association has created a checklist to clarify the requirements of the draft regulation. Members should use this checklist alongside the additional information in PIA's Privacy Compliance Central tool kit to take steps to ensure their agency is in compliance.
While the regulation has not yet been adopted, there are major implications for affected entities, and an extremely short time frame to comply with the regulation, should it take effect as proposed. PIANY suggests members start taking steps now toward compliance.
In the meantime, PIANY will continue to work to ease the impact this proposed regulation has on professional, independent agents and brokers.
