NCIDA: Nassau County businesses may be eligible for assistance

Your PIANY representatives N. Stephen Ruchman, CPIA; Jeffrey Greenfield; Michael Cracco; and Justin Fries, CIC, CPCU, CPIA, met today as part of the Nassau County Economic Recovery Task force to discuss Sandy-related business insurance claims in that area.

The meeting, called by Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano, was attended by County Director of Business Development, Nicholas Terzulli, former Superintendent of Insurance Greg Serio, and other industry representatives. Local insurance agencies were asked about their experience in addressing Sandy-related claims, the economic impact of the storm and how businesses and the county might benefit from improved communication.

PIA and others at the meeting were informed of The Nassau County Industrial Development Agencys available financial assistance for small businesses in the form of SBA loans, as well as sales-tax exemptions of up to $99,000 for businesses with fewer than 100 employees to be used for furniture, fixtures, equipment and materials used in reconstruction within the county.

For information how to access this assistance, agencies and their commercial clients are encouraged to contact the NCIDA at (516) 571-1745, on its new designated website: www.NassauBackinBusiness.org, or by email at LEADS@NassauIDA.org.
