PIANJ/NJYIP resume database fills as college students graduate
TRENTON, N.J.?Awash with a new group of recent graduates, the ongoing Professional Insurance Agents of New Jersey and New Jersey Young Insurance Professionals recruitment campaign at local colleges has brought new resumes to the Project Y/Agency Staffing Assistance Program student-resume database. The database is comprised of resumes from students without experience in the New Jersey insurance marketplace but who have expressed an interest in an insurance career.
?Some 150 resumes now populate the database, which is a joint effort of PIA and NJYIP to raise awareness about the great opportunities available in the insurance industry,? said PIANJ President Gary C. Rygiel, CIC, CPCU, ARM, CRM, AIS. ?It?s encouraging to see the success of this program coming to fruition after the work that so many volunteers have put into it.?
The resume database is part of PIA?s ongoing campaign to address the difficulty independent agencies face in finding new talent to join their staff and the broader challenge of perpetuating the industry as its professionals continue toward retirement age. Efforts include an outreach program, dubbed Project Y, featuring a designated Web site and marketing materials designed to encourage young people to consider careers in insurance, as well as college visits and participation in job fairs by PIANJ and NJYIP volunteers.
PIA members seeking an undergraduate interested in an employment opportunity can find the database on the ASAP section of the PIA Web site at www.pia.org/IRC/asap/njresume.php. The association recommends checking the site regularly as new candidates are added often
PIANJ is a trade association representing professional, independent insurance agencies, brokerages and their employees throughout the state.
