Senate passes bill to add crumbling foundation surcharge to insurance policies

The state Senate voted today in favor (19-17) of a bill (H.B.5209) that would add a $12 annual surcharge on residential homeowners insurance policies.

The surcharge would be used to aid homeowners whose houses have crumbling foundations.

The Connecticut House of Representatives voted in favor of the bill (97-42) earlier this week.
