Combatting Unconscious Bias and Creating an Upstander Culture

More than 60 insurance professionals attended the latest PIANJ Women's Business Forum, at the Forsgate Country Club in Jamesburg, N.J.
During the event, Katerin Nukk-Freeman, co-founder of Nukk-Freeman & Cerra, P.C. Employment Attorneys, educated the participants about how their assumptions about social identities (i.e., race, sex, age, sexual orientation, religion and disability)—without awareness or conscious control—shape their likes and dislikes and their judgements about ability, potential and character. During her interactive session, Nukk-Freeman offered examples and explained how participants can utilize strategies to become a part of an upstander culture, in which people take action when they witness wrongdoing.
Plans are underway for the next Women's Business Forum, which will be held this fall. Details to be posted soon!
