During our next Women’s Leadership Alliance event, define and shine your unique value with the game-changing tool of personal storytelling. The Next Level’s head trainer and leadership presence coach Lucia Brizzi will lead this experiential workshop.

During this presentation, participants will learn practical vocal/ physical tools for leadership presence, connect with peer coaching to define their “leadership stands,” and craft their personal leadership story.

To enhance the storytelling experience, watch this brief video* before the seminar to prepare for the basic structure of program. As you watch the video training, you can follow along with the attached PDF deck and attached worksheet. *The password to view the video is: womenleaders

Why leadership storytelling?
Stories constitute the single most powerful weapon in a leader’s arsenal.—Dr. Howard Gardner, Professor Harvard University

For over 15 years, The Next Level has seen the impact of story as it has trained leaders to share personal narratives in ways that create meaningful action. Engaging people on a feeling level can inspire them not just to listen, but to take action—the crux leadership.

The workshop at the next PIANJ Women’s Leadership Alliance will be an opportunity to synthesize a moment that shaped participants as leaders into a compelling narrative. These stories can be used to share the big why behind the work they to do and connect beyond words.

Stories make facts matter. Stories are 20% more memorable than facts alone. Why? They connect the dots to communicate the value and essential “why” behind what might otherwise be too much information for the nonexpert.

Stories connect. As we listen to a narrative, our mirror neurons sync up with that of the storytellers, bringing audiences along on a shared experience. They can be used to connect groups large and small around a compelling vision.

Story prep

The story craft video training will walk you through crafting your leadership story. When we meet live at the Women’s Business Forum, we’ll work with leadership presence tools to share your story. In addition, start listening to great storytellers. Here are some resources:

  • Cynthia Ritter. One example from a program graduate who gave us permission to share her story. It shows the power of specifics—that magic piece of SSV that brings a story to life.
  •  The Moth. Tons of personal stories on a broad range of themes. A great place to study story structure!
