Q. What is your insurance origin story?

Econoworld Agency was founded in 1992 with the goal of providing professional risk-management services to the Korean American community in the New York metropolitan area. Starting from humble beginnings, we focused on understanding the unique needs of this ethnic market. Today, headquartered in Fort Lee, N.J., we have grown into one of the largest Korean insurance agencies in the Northeast, serving a diverse and expanding corporate client base across and beyond the tri-state area.

Q. What first sparked your interest in supporting the New Jersey PIAPAC and its causes?

As a long-time city council member in Englewood Cliffs, N.J., and now as its mayor, I understand the vital role that legislation plays in shaping the insurance industry. Supporting NJPIAPAC allows me to contribute to ensuring that the voices of independent insurance agents and their clients are heard by lawmakers. Advocacy is key to protecting our clients and fostering a thriving, competitive insurance market.

Q. In your opinion, what are the most important issues or policies the NJPIAPAC is helping to support?

One of the most pressing concerns is the rising cost of insurance premiums, which affects both small businesses and individual property owners. PIANJ advocates—with the backing of NJPIAPAC—for initiatives that increase transparency, efficiency, and competition in the market is critical. These efforts help reduce the financial burden on consumers and offer independent insurance agents more tools to serve their clients effectively.

Q. If you could give one piece of advice to potential new donors considering supporting the NJPIAPAC, what would it be?

Your voice matters. Every contribution, whether big or small, helps strengthen the collective effort to protect and improve our industry. By supporting the PAC, you are investing in the future of your business, your clients, and the broader insurance industry. Together, we can make a greater impact.

Q. Lastly, can you give readers one book, movie, or show recommendation?

I recommend the book The Go-Giver by Bob Burg and John David Mann. It’s an inspiring story about how shifting one’s focus from getting to giving—putting others’ interests first—cannot only bring personal fulfillment but also lead to unexpected professional success. It’s a must-read for anyone in a service-oriented industry like insurance.
