PIA's Albany Lobby Day

PIANY met with legislators at their Albany offices during the association’s Albany Lobby Day, on Tuesday, May 13, 2025. PIANY President Richard Andrews, LUTCF; PIANY President-elect Jason E. Bartow, AAI, CPIA, TRA; PIANY Vice President Jorge Hernandez; PIANY Secretary Ed Chadwick; PIANY past President Fred Holender, CLU, CPCU, ChFC, MSFS; PIANY Legislative Representative Patrick Zlogar; and PIANY Director of Government & Industry Affairs Bradford J. Lachut, Esq. attended meetings throughout the day.

The meetings focused on the association’s 2025 legislative priorities, which include eliminating the anti-arson form requirement for New York City; carryover of continuing-education credits; regulation of lawsuit lending; establishing an insurance framework for e-bikes and e-scooters; and reforms to the New York state tort system.

The PIANY members met with legislators throughout the day, including Senate Insurance Committee Chairperson Sen. Jamaal T. Bailey, D-36; Assembly Insurance Committee Chairperson Assemblyman David I. Weprin, D-24; as well as with Sen. Joseph P. Addabbo Jr., D-15; Sen. Jeremy A. Cooney, D-56; Sen. Pamela Helming, R-54; Assemblyman Sam Berger, D-27; and Assemblyman Ken Blankenbush, R-117.

“Meeting with state lawmakers and discussing our legislative priorities helps PIANY advocate on behalf of our members and the insurance-buying public,” said Andrews. “PIANY appreciates these legislators who took the time to discuss these issues that are important to professional, independent insurance agents, consumers, and business owners who are their constituents.”
