PIA's Albany Lobby Day
PIANY met with legislators at their Albany offices during the association’s Albany Lobby Day, May 7, 2019. The meetings focused on the association’s 2019 legislative priorities, which include: eliminating the anti-arson form requirement for New York City; reforms to the New York State Insurance Fund; consumer protections in auto insurance underwriting; and standardizing the events that would trigger coastal homeowners insurance hurricane deductibles.
The PIANY members met with four legislators throughout the day: Sens Neil D. Breslin, D-44, and Assembly members Sean M. Ryan, D-149, Kenneth P. Zebrowski, D-96; and Andrew R. Garbarino, R-7 as well as representatives from Senator Michael H. Ranzenhofer, R-61 and Assemblyman Kevin A. Cahill’s D-103 offices
“Meeting with state lawmakers and informing them of our legislative priorities helps PIANY advocate on behalf of our members and the insurance-buying public,” said Ferris. “PIANY appreciates the senators and assemblymen who took the time to discuss these issues that are important to professional, independent insurance agents and their constituents.”
In addition to the issues cited above, PIANY’s 2019 legislative agenda includes scaffold law and excess-line reform.
