PIA's District Office Visits
PIACT facilitates its District Office Visit program, comprised of outreach meetings with legislators across the state, taking place throughout the year. These visits give us a head start on our priority issues for the coming state legislative session. The goal of the DOVs is to reach out to state legislators before they return to Hartford and discuss the issues that are important to professional, independent insurance agents.
PIACT is committed to helping its DOV program be as successful as possible by preparing volunteers with background information and talking points, so you can speak confidently on the most pressing issues. Your association’s staff even will attend meetings to support your visits.
Interested in participating? Please send an email to govaffairs@pia.org or call the PIA Government Affairs Department at (800) 424‑4244, to get more information about the program. To review the association's legislative priorities, click here.
How the program works. PIACT members sign up to visit their legislators, in small groups, in their district offices, between November and January. Meetings take place in your local area with your state legislators. PIACT will provide you with the background materials you need and enlist PIA Northeast staff to accompany you, if requested.
