A member of PIA of New Jersey since 1991, Monacelli served as president-elect in 1998-99 and as president of the state association in 1999-2000. He is active with the association, serving on numerous committees. Monacelli is currently Chairman of the PIANJ Auto Insurance Task Force. He also serves on the agent advisory councils of Travelers, Encompass and Selective insurance companies.Paul was named PIA National 2003 Professional Agent of the Year. Active in his community, Paul Monacelli also served as Mayor and council president for the city of Orange, New Jersey.A Vietnam veteran, Monacelli is a retired Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserves and last served as Commander of the 304th Civil Affairs Brigade in Philadelphia, Pa. In 1994, Monacelli was deployed to Rwanda, Africa, where he served as Chief of Civil Military Operations for the humanitarian aid mission, Operation Support Hope. For this service he was awarded the Defense Meritorious Service Medal and the Humanitarian Service Medal. In 1996, he was deployed to Zaire, Africa for another humanitarian aid mission, Operation Guardian Assistance.
