PIA Management Services taps industry insider as president

GLENMONT, N.Y.—PIA Management Services Inc. announced Jeffrey D. Parmenter, CPCU, ARM, will be the organization’s next president. PIA Management Services is the umbrella corporation that manages the Glenmont, N.Y.-based Professional Insurance Agents associations of New York State, New Jersey, Connecticut, New Hampshire and Vermont, as well as other insurance-related associations.

Parmenter will serve as the organization’s third president over the last 25 years, a position which currently is held by Mark LaLonde, CPIA, CIC, AAI. LaLonde will remain with the company as CEO. PIANJ past President John D’Agostino Jr., CIC, CPIA, CRM, will take over as PIA Management Services board chairman, a post that will be vacated by Parmenter’s move to president.

Parmenter has been a PIA member for three decades. His work with PIA includes serving as president of PIACT, the PIA state affiliate in Connecticut, in 2004; and as chairman of the PIA Management Services board since 2017. He has chaired or otherwise led every PIACT committee and affiliate group, including as president of PIACT’s Young Insurance Professionals association, which was conceived and is supported by PIACT to bolster and develop the professional growth of newcomers to the industry. He also was chairman of the Glenmont National Alliance Committee, which oversees and conducts property/casualty education and the Certified Insurance Counselor and Certified Insurance Service Representative, under the auspices of the National Alliance, sponsored by PIA of Connecticut, New Jersey and New York State. He was recognized by PIACT-YIP in 2015 with its prestigious Jim Goodman Lifetime Achievement Award and he was named Professional Agent of the Year by PIACT in 2016.

“The PIA Management Services board’s appointment of Jeff to president serves its goal of bringing in an industry expert, who has both a broad view of the industry and an acute familiarity with our PIA affiliate organizations,” said LaLonde. “We are confident that Jeff will lead the entire organization in Glenmont as a visionary for the industry by building on its strengths and reputation.”

Parmenter is a graduate of Southern Connecticut State University. He is a 34-year surplus lines veteran, most recently employed with Risk Placement Services out of Meridan, Conn.

PIA Management Services Inc. is the umbrella corporation that manages the Glenmont, N.Y.-based Professional Insurance Agents associations, representing independent insurance agencies, brokerages and their employees in New York State, New Jersey, Connecticut, New Hampshire and Vermont. PIANY, PIANJ, PIACT, PIANH and PIAVT is a partnership of five state trade associations representing independent insurance agencies, brokerages and their employees throughout their respective states.
