PIANJ holds company meeting with Travelers

Members of PIANJ’s Business Issues Committee met with Traveler’s Regional Director of Field Management Daniel Tague, in New Jersey. The productive, two-hour meeting covered new developments in the insurance industry; how Travelers has been adapting to the changes; and the evolving role of professional independent agents.

At the meeting, PIANJ President-elect Bruce Blum, CPIA, and PIANJ Secretary and Communications Committee Chair Connie Maloney, asked Tague how Travelers has adapted to take on changing competition with new technology while incorporating independent agents.

Tague emphasized Travelers commitment to independent agencies that sell the company’s products and he listened to feedback from PIANJ members on how to further develop these partnerships. Specifically, Tague stressed that the company is working constantly to improve its service to independent agents as well as continuing to evaluate how it can best support smaller agencies, particularly in diverse communities.

PIANJ’s representatives discussed the obstacles they face when they work with Travelers and limits on the company’s available products. This resulted in a mutually beneficial discussion on innovations taking place at Travelers and development in the industry.

The meeting provided an opportunity for PIANJ to discuss the interests and concerns of independent agents in the state, which will help agents and Travelers continue to provide the best products and service to the insurance-buying public throughout the Garden State.

PIANJ Director of Government & Industry Affairs, Bradford J. Lachut, Esq., and PIANJ Government Affairs Counsel, Clare Irvine, Esq., also attended the meeting.
