Proposal to increase liability and inspection requirements for TNCs

A bill has been proposed in the Connecticut House of Representatives that would require inspections for transportation network company vehicles and certain delivery vehicles, and increase the insurance requirements. The proposed legislation, H.B.5157, does not include details about the inspections. It also does not include a new requirement for TNC liability insurance, only an increase from the current requirements set by Public Act 17-140. The proposal does not offer guidance on what delivery vehicles would need to comply with the new inspection requirement or the increase in liability insurance for those certain delivery vehicles. This bill has been referred to the Connecticut Joint Transportation Committee. For more information on TNC insurance requirements in Connecticut, see QS90814 in the PIA QuickSource library.
