PIA continues to track how agents perceive their carriers

Anonymous Company Performance Survey gives agents a chance to rate companies on performance items

GLENMONT, N.Y.—The Professional Insurance Agents of Connecticut, New Jersey and New York launched their Company Performance Surveys. Each survey, available through Thursday, June 28, 2018, gauges insurance producers’ views of the companies they represent in their respective states on 20 performance items, including: claims handling, products and pricing, underwriting, technology and marketing support to gauge their relationship with the carriers.

“We have conducted this survey in Connecticut since 2002, so it continues to be a valuable tool to understand how professional, independent insurance agents perceive their carriers’ performance,” said Ken Distel, president of PIACT. “We encourage agents to let their voices be heard and don’t forget to comment on companies’ strengths and areas for improvement.”

“This survey is open to all independent agents, not just PIA members,” said Kacy Campion Renna, CIC, president of PIANJ. “We also ask survey participants to encourage everyone in their agencies who work with carriers to provide their feedback. It’s important to know how each carrier performs with all members of an agency’s staff, not just the agency principal or select staff members.”

“The main focus of the survey is to foster good working relationships between professional, independent insurance agents and their carriers,” said Fred Holender, CLU, CPCU, ChFC, MSFS, president of PIANY. “When these relationships are strong, both agents and carriers benefit and by extension, so do their clients.”

Launched in 2002 by PIACT, the biennial Company Performance Surveys have built years of historical data collected by each respective PIA-state affiliate. PIA members can view this data on the PIA website at pia.org/GIA/surveys/performance/.

Upon request, PIA-member companies may receive information comparing their results to survey averages; as well as including specific, anonymous comments from agents on their services, among other information. Also upon request, PIA-member agents will be given reports about their companies.

PIACT, PIANJ and PIANY are trade associations representing professional, independent insurance agencies, brokerages and their employees throughout their respective states.
