PIANY honors Holender with Distinguished Insurance Service award

GLENMONT, N.Y.—Fred Holender, CLU, CPCU, ChFC, MSFS, received the Professional Insurance Agents of New York’s 2019 Distinguished Insurance Service award at the association’s annual board

“Fred is admired and respected by his peers and colleagues in the industry. This award recognizes his long-standing commitment to the insurance industry, and commemorates his dedication and hard work, as well as the unwavering loyalty he has demonstrated to independent agents throughout his career,” said Jamie Ferris, CIC, CPIA, AAI, president of PIANY.

Holender is director of administration for Lawley Service Inc., in Buffalo, N.Y.

A member of PIANY since the 1970s, Holender has served on the board of directors since 2013; and served as president in 2017-18; president-elect in 2016-17; and vice president in 2015-16. He also is chairperson of the Nominations Committee and is a member of the Company/Industry Relations; Executive/Budget & Finance and Government Affairs Committees. Holender is acting Vice Chairman of the PIANY Political Action Executive and Governing Committees. He also is primary coordinator of PIANY’s Legislative district office visits, and is a board member of PIA Management Services Inc., the umbrella corporation that manages the Glenmont-based Professional Insurance Agents associations of New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, New Hampshire and Vermont.

In 2016, Holender received PIANY’s Director of the Year award, in recognition of his hard work and dedication as a member of the association’s board of directors who has contributed remarkable time and

Active in the industry, Holender is a member of PIA National’s Cybersecurity Task Force. He also is a member of the New York State Insurance Fund Advisory Council.

PIANY is a trade association representing professional, independent insurance agencies, brokerages and their employees throughout the state.
