Rep. MacArthur appointed to House Financial Services Committee
The 115th Congress began last week and new committee assignments are being handed out to the legislators. It was announced on Thursday that New Jersey Rep. Tom MacArthur, R-3, has been appointed to the House Financial Services Committee.
The House Financial Services Committee has jurisdiction over insurance matters, among other things. Many of the most important insurance matters of the past few years, including the reauthorization of the National Flood Insurance Program and Terrorism Risk Insurance Program have gone through the Financial Services Committee. Generally, the committee is considered one of the most active and prestigious committees in the U.S. House of Representatives. During the 114th Congress, 69 percent of the bills reported by the committee passed the House and 36 bills were signed into law.
