Be prepared with PIA hurricane-related resources

Don’t let a Hermine catch you off guard

As we begin National Preparedness month and Hurricane Hermine hits the Florida coast, PIA wants you to be armed with the tools necessary to keep your agency prepared and help you assist your clients. Recent storms have reminded us that a disaster doesn’t have to be a hurricane to devastate an entire community: It can be a local power outage; a chemical spill; a fire or even unsafe conditions nearby. PIA wants you to be armed with the tools necessary to keep your agency prepared and help you assist your clients.

PIA offers many resources, available 24/7 on our website at pia.org, to help in the process of planning for, or actually working through, a disaster:

Agency preparedness & procedures manual—a starting point for your plan development of office and operations preservation, to include personnel issues, external effects, communication and more.

Hurricane Info Central—a one-stop resource for anything related to hurricanes. You will find information on business interruption; loss of use; hurricane deductibles; news and regulatory announcements; FAQs; and so much more.

Flood Insurance Tool Kit—answers to your flood-related questions, including how to write flood coverage, training, news, flood maps and marketing materials to inform your clients about the importance of flood coverage.

Preparing your clients

Assisting your clients before, during and after a catastrophe is one of the most valuable services you as a professional, independent agent can provide. This is your time to shine and ensure client retention and even new business. Take the opportunity to help your clients prepare for the event with safety tips, coverage information, etc.
