PIANY honors Reiersen with the Hudson Valley RAP Executive of the Year award

GLENMONT, N.Y.-The Professional Insurance Agents of New York State Inc. presented John Reiersen, CPCU, president and chief executive officer of Kingstone Insurance Co. with its Executive of the Year award at its annual Hudson Valley Regional Awareness Program, Oct. 27, 2011, at the Doubletree Hotel, Tarrytown, N.Y.

This award recognizes an individual from an insurance company, general agency, managing general agency or other industry professional who has demonstrated those qualities which best foster a strong working relationship with agents and brokers and who has exemplified a commitment to professionalism and service.

"With this award, PIANY honors John for his long-standing commitment to the insurance industry," said Richard Savino, CIC, CPIA, president of PIANY. "The award also commemorates his dedication and hard work, as well as his loyalty to our industry. Johns professionalism is to be admired and respected."

Reiersen has been in the insurance field for more than 40 years. For more than 25 years, he worked for the New York State Insurance Department. When he left, he was chief examiner in the Property and Casualty Insurance Bureau. During his tenure with the NYSID, Reiersen was instrumental in getting many statutes and regulations enacted including numerous cost containment programs and th automobile no-fault program. In 1999, Reiersen was elected president of the Commercial Insurance Company, which became Kingstone Insurance Co. in July 2009, a position he still holds today.

PIANY is a trade association representing professional, independent insurance agencies, brokerages and their employees throughout the state.
