Vermont Electric Co-Op receives FEMA grant for storm damage repairs
The Federal Emergency Management Agency gave the Vermont Electric Co-Operative a $1.7 million grant to help repair 54 transformers and nearly 2,900 miles transmission and line poles damages by a severe storm and flooding last October. The grant is a part of FEMA’s Public Assistance program, and represents the federal share of the $2.3 million project for the Johnson-based utility.
The Vermont Electric Co-Operative operates in 10 counties in Vermont that were designated in a president disaster declaration. FEMA has obligated almost $2.7 million to help pay for repairs from the October storm.
