The Professional Insurance Agents of Connecticut Inc. held their 33rd annual Diamond Club Reception on March 8, 2016. The event, held in the Atrium of the Legislative Office Building, provides members with the opportunity to speak to their local elected representatives about issues facing professional, independent insurance agents and the State of Connecticut.
The event had a wonderful turnout with attendees including Insurance Commissioner Katharine L. Wade, chairpersons of the Insurance and Real Estate Committee: Sen. Joseph J. Crisco Jr. (D-17) and Rep. Robert W. Megna (D-97); along with other Insurance and Real Estate Committee members: Rep. Stephen D. Dargan (D-115), Rep. Susan M. Johnson (D-49), Rep. John F, Scott (R-40) and Rep. Kurt Vail (R-52). Sen. Tony Hwang (R-28) and Rep. Brian Becker (D-19), as well as numerous other legislators and legislative aides also were in attendance.
Members were able to discuss issues currently pending before the Connecticut Legislature, including the crumbling foundations legislation that the Insurance and Real Estate Committee heard public testimony on earlier that day. Rep. Kurt Vail (R-52), an avid proponent of the legislation, spoke with several PIACT members on the topic. Members were able to share information regarding what they were seeing in claims and the carriers' handling of those claims with Rep. Vail. Additionally, members were able to hear firsthand about the budget deficit facing the state and other legislation making its way through the legislative process.
