Weds., Sept. 1, 2010 (NY, NJ, CT only): A Comparative Look at Border-State Workers' Compensation Insurance Requirements
—Dan Corbin, CPCU, CIC, LUTC

All live Webinars run from Noon-1 p.m.

Level: Intermediate

  • NYCE: 1 BR, C3, PC, PA (NYCR-226579)
  • CTCE: PC 1 (104474) (CT CE deadline: 8/18)
  • NJCE: 1 GEN (88890258)

Designed for agency principals, producers and customer service representatives who are involved in the placement of workers' compensation insurance. Knowing the distinct regulatory requirements is vital to the competent placement of workers' compensation insurance in these three states.

Many agencies transact insurance in multiple states, and it is even more likely to be the case when these states share a border. This program will highlight certain coverage and regulatory distinctions for the three states of Connecticut, New Jersey and New York, which are served by the Glenmont PIA office.

This program will focus on making state comparisons for workers' compensation insurance, such as:

  • Who is an employee?
  • How are Professional Employer Organizations treated?
  • To what extent are domestic employees covered?
  • What are the benefits provided under the law?
  • Are waivers of subrogation permitted?
  • What does employers' liability cover?
  • How are out-of-state employees treated?
  • What are the penalties for being uninsured?

Don't miss this opportunity to learn how to reduce the likelihood of making costly errors in the multi-state placement of workers' compensation insurance.

Additional Insured status and certificate transactions cause many errors and omissions claims against agents. When an insured fails to secure the requested additional insured status per a contract executed with a third-party there is a breach of contract. Named insureds often try to blame the agent for failing to meet the terms of the contract and sometimes the party expecting additional insured status sues the agent directly as a third-party beneficiary claiming the agent had a duty to protect them based on the agent's knowledge of the relationship between the named insured and third-party.

Don't miss this informative Webinar, where you will:

  • Learn about the traps in the various Additional Insured endorsement forms,
  • Acknowledging action taken in adding a third-party as an Additional Insured,
  • Proper use/completion of the Certificate of Liability Insurance and
  • Review the new ACORD Certificate of Liability form.

This knowledge will assist in developing a procedure to protect the agency, named insured and third-party to avoid errors and omissions and provide the proper service. It will also reinforce the coverage issues related to Additional Insured status.
