This informative program will address some of the lesser known—or misunderstood— policy wording and answers questions such as, “If Mom and Dad retire to Florida, but they keep the original house so that their son or daughter can continue to live there, is the son or daughter still an insured on Mom and Dad's policy?”;

“You have a party at your house…Someone has “a few drinks” and goes driving away…Host Liquor Liability – Is it a “Now you see it (HO '91)…Now you don't (HO '00)” situation?”;

“Loss Assessment coverage: How do the Homeowners Policy forms deal with the master policy deductible?”;

“Are foundations covered?”;

“Do I have coverage if I borrow my friend's camera and it gets stolen while I'm on vacation?”

Learning objectives:

  • To understand who is an insured, by definition, and how insured status can suddenly change;
  • To understand the differences in wording in the '91 and '00 editions of the Homeowners Policy regarding “host liquor” liability in relation to motor vehicle accidents;
