PIACT honors Rep. Brian Becker as Legislator of the Year

HARTFORD, Conn.--The Professional Insurance Agents of Connecticut Inc. has recognized Representative Brian Becker as its 2016 Legislator of the Year. PIACT past President Augusto Russell, CIC, presented the representative with the award at his Hartford, Conn. office yesterday, March 8, 2016. PIACT presents its Legislator of the Year award to a lawmaker who has demonstrated outstanding effort on behalf of Connecticut's independent insurance agents and the insurance-buying public.

First elected to the Connecticut General Assembly in 2010, Becker represents the 19th Assembly District of West Hartford, Avon and Farmington. As chairman of the Connecticut Regulations Review Committee, Rep. Becker has been responsible for approval of regulations proposed by the Connecticut Insurance Department, including Utilization Review License Application Date Change regulation.

"We are pleased to present this award to Representative Becker, in appreciation of his outstanding efforts on behalf of Connecticut's independent insurance agents and the insurance-buying public," Russell said. "A leader on the issues that matter most to Connecticut's businesses and consumers, he understands our state's unique challenges and he is one of the hardest-working lawmakers in our state. We present this award with enthusiasm to him in recognition of his efforts to improve the state's business climate."

Russell also noted Becker's support of PIACT's efforts to pass a Certificates of Insurance law and his sponsorship of legislation including An Act Prohibiting Certain Exclusions from Automobile Insurance Policy Coverage.

PIACT is a trade association representing professional, independent insurance agencies, brokerages and their employees throughout the state.
