Distel elected treasurer of PIACT

HARTFORD, Conn.-Ken Distel of Avon, Conn., was elected treasurer of the Professional Insurance Agents of Connecticut Inc., at the associations Annual Business Meeting, March 12, at the Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Conn.

Distel is vice president of The Distel Group in Farmington, Conn.

An active member of PIACT, Distel served as secretary in 2014-15 and serves as Business Issues chair of the Legislative/Business Issues Committee. He also is a member of the Executive/Budget & Finance Committee.

Distel served as president of the Connecticut Young Insurance Professionals from 2004-06. CTYIP promotes the professional and personal growth of those new to the insurance field by providing education and networking opportunities. It is an affiliate of PIACT. In 2003, Distel received the CTYIP Insurance Professional of the Year. This award honors an individual who has exemplified a commitment to professionalism, networking and service and whose efforts have enhanced CTYIP. In 2002, Distel received the CTYIP Director of the Year award. This award is presented by CTYIP to honor the hard work and dedication of a member of the associations board of directors who has contributed a great deal of time and talent to help support CTYIP and its programs.

PIACT is a trade association representing professional, independent insurance agencies and their employees throughout the state.
