February 8, 2010

Largest insurance conference in the state includes CE, networking and more

HARTFORD, Conn.– Connecticut Insurance Commissioner Thomas R. Sullivan will address members of the insurance industry at the Professional Insurance Agents of Connecticut Inc.’s Annual Convention, March 1-2, 2010, at a new location, the MGM Grand at Foxwoods, Mashantucket, Conn. Sullivan will keynote the annual awards luncheon on Tuesday at 12:30 p.m.

“We look forward to Commissioner Sullivan’s perspective on the insurance issues that impact Connecticut the most,” said PIACT President James A. Goodman, CIC. “With the challenges of a weakened economy, independent agents will benefit from his insight and expertise.”

Agents also will have ample opportunity to earn continuing education credits at this year’s convention; five timely education sessions are available: Errors and omissions loss control 2010 and Business auto policy, truckers and garage coverage forms taught by Mishell Magnusson, CIC, CISR, AAI, FIPC; Legal and ethical responsibilities and Implementing life and health in a p/c agency presented by Richard L. Goolsby, CIC; and Certificates of insurance, additional insureds and indemnity agreements instructed by Steven D. Lyon, CPCU, CIC, CRM, AAI, ARM, AIS, CRIS, CWCP.

The event also features an expansive trade show; presentation of the PIA Distinction of Professionalism Awards; networking opportunities; and the opening night gala dinner, offering participants a chance to meet PIACT’s new leadership and socialize with colleagues.

PIACT is a trade association representing professional, independent insurance agencies, brokerages and their employees throughout the state.
