Buffalo-area legislators meet with PIANY representative Henry J. Kaye
BUFFALO, N.Y.?Henry J. Kaye, CIC, of Amherst, N.Y., past president of the Professional Insurance Agents of New York State Inc., has met with a number of local lawmakers throughout the Buffalo region. Kaye spoke with senators and members of the assembly on the subject of the association?s top legislative issues for 2008, which include: property insurance availability; auto insurance surcharges; claims being turned down for ?late notice? to the insurer; and several items that remain to be addressed after New York state?s historic workers? compensation reforms.
?My conversations with local area legislators have been both constructive and beneficial for all parties involved,? said Kaye. ?The issues discussed have a major impact on the New York state economy. Businesses and homeowners need affordable insurance; by keeping our local legislators aware of our needs, we can help ensure that these concerns are addressed throughout the year.?
PIANY?s legislative priorities for this year are of particular importance to the insurance-buying public throughout New York state. The association?s legislative agenda reflects issues that profoundly affect the business of all professional independent insurance agents and, as a result, directly impact their customers. For this reason, the association has arranged frequent meetings with local legislators to discuss insurance-related issues that affect residents of the Buffalo area.
Kaye has met thus far with the following area legislators: Assemblyman Sam Hoyt (D-144), Sen. George D. Maziarz (D-62), Assemblywoman Crystal D. Peoples (D-141), Assemblyman Jack Quinn (D-146), Sen. Mary Lou Rath (D-61), Assemblyman Robin Schimminger (D-140), Sen. William. T. Stachowski (D-58) and Sen. Dale M. Voelker (D-59).
PIANY will hold a number of additional statewide legislative meetings, where independent agents and their legislators can meet to discuss issues of concern. Meetings are scheduled throughout New York state, and have begun in December 2007, continuing through the first quarter of 2008.
PIANY is a trade association representing professional, independent insurance agencies, brokerages and their employees throughout the state.
