Ride-sharing issues take stage around the nation

Illinois Democratic Gov. Pat Quinn vetoed legislation that would have put into place statewide regulations on ride-sharing services competing with taxis, citing reticence toward implementing what seemed to be a "one-size-fits-all approach." Taxi drivers as well as legislation sponsors criticized the veto, saying that ride-sharing services such as Uber and Lyft ignore residents in working-class areas of Chicago.
